Chin & Cheek Augmentation

The prominence, location, and definition of the cheeks and chin play a major role in creating an attractive facial silhouette. Most people want angular and well-defined facial contours, but sunken cheeks and a recessed chin can come in the way. If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your chin and cheeks, surgical augmentation may be the solution.

Elevate Your Chin & Cheek Contours

The cheeks and chin play a significant role in defining the contours and structure of your face. Most people want prominent and high cheeks and an externally projected chin. When your chin is recessed or your cheeks sunken, your face may feel like it’s lacking harmony and symmetry. Our board-certified surgeons perform personalized chin and cheek augmentation surgeries using fat transfers or implant techniques, helping you achieve the desired facial contours.

What is Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation is a surgical procedure that improves the external projection of your chin. If you have a small or recessed chin that negatively affects your facial profile, the surgeon can provide a silicone implant to balance your facial contours. The surgeon places the implant on the chin bone via an incision inside the mouth or under the chin. In either case, the incision is invisible or barely perceptible. The silicone implant enhances the projection of your chin, giving you a more attractive facial appearance.

Chin Augmentation Can Correct:

  • Small or recessed chin
  • Disproportionate chin
  • Chin lacking in harmony

Benefits of Chin Augmentation:

  • Improve the contours of the neck and face
  • Reduce depressions around the chin
  • Improve overall facial symmetry
  • Enhance the jawline
  • Customized according to your needs
  • Natural-looking results

What is Cheek Augmentation?

Cheek augmentation is a surgical procedure that enhances the contours of the cheeks. If you have sunken cheeks, the surgeon can enhance the volume of the cheeks using two techniques — cheek implants or fat transfers. If you go for an implant-based augmentation, the surgeon can place a silicone implant in your cheeks via an incision in the mouth. The fat grafting technique involves harvesting excess fat cells from another part of the body and injecting them into the cheeks, thus ensuring natural-looking volume enhancement.

Cheek Augmentation Can Correct:

  • Sunken cheeks
  • Hollow and gaunt facial appearance
  • Prominent facial wrinkles and creases

Benefits of Cheek Augmentation:

  • Improve the overall contours of the face
  • Add fullness to the cheeks
  • Reverse the signs of aging on the face
  • Make your face look healthier and more youthful
  • Improve overall facial symmetry
  • Personalized according to your needs
  • Natural-looking results

Your Chin & Cheek Augmentation Journey: Consultation, Surgery, Recovery

Your chin and cheek augmentation start with a consultation with our board-certified plastic surgeons. During your consultation, the surgeon reviews your medical history, examines your facial anatomy, discusses your goals and concerns, understands why you’re pursuing a chin/cheek augmentation, and curates a personalized surgical plan. The specific details of the surgical plan, including whether you need cheek/chin implants or fat transfers, will be based on your anatomy and goals.

Chin augmentation is performed under total intravenous anesthesia or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation at our surgical facility. The surgeon makes an incision inside your mouth or a small incision underneath the chin. If the incision is made inside the mouth, there’s no visible scarring, And if the incision is under the chin, the surgeon strategically places it to minimize visibility. After making an incision, the surgeon inserts a silicone implant and attaches it to the chin bone using sutures, following which the incisions are closed.

Cheek augmentation is also performed under total intravenous anesthesia or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. In this case, the surgeon may use one of two possible surgical techniques — fat grafting or implants.

  • Fat Grafting: The surgeon performs liposuction to harvest excess fat cells from another part of the body, such as the thighs, tummy, or lower back. The fat cells are purified and injected into the cheeks. The fat cells settle into the new position, making your cheeks look fuller.
  • Implant Placement: The surgeon makes an incision in your mouth or along the natural creases of your skin under the eyes. After making an incision, the silicone implant is carefully inserted into the midface region, making your cheeks look fuller and more voluminous.

You can expect moderate pain, swelling, tenderness, numbness, and bruising around the chin and cheeks for a few days after your chin and cheek augmentation. You may need to wear compression garments for a few days to reduce swelling. Normal activities may be resumed within 1 or 2 weeks, but you must avoid exercise and high-intensity activities for 6 to 8 weeks. You must also follow the surgeon’s aftercare guidelines to ensure optimal healing.
